Today Red Hat announced general availability of Red Hat Enterprise Atomic Host and Red Hat Enterprise Linux V7.1. Red Hat Enterprise Linux Atomic Host is a secure, minimized footprint operating system optimized to run Linux Containers. A member of the Red Hat Enterprise Linux family, Red Hat Enterprise Linux Atomic Host couples the flexible, lightweight and modular capabilities of Linux Containers with the reliability and security of Red Hat Enterprise Linux in a reduced image size. Red Hat Enterprise Linux Atomic Host will enable easy movement of Red Hat Enterprise Linux-certified applications across bare metal systems, virtual machines and private and public clouds.
There are many benefits, both business and technical, for adopting Linux containers. These benefits are highlighted in several documents that are posted on redhat.com. In addition, Red Hat is hosting Transform Application Delivery with Containers, a Virtual Event on March 12, 2015. Attendees will hear Red Hat’s container vision and strategy and learn how Linux containers are disrupting traditional application development and deployment models. Agenda and registration information for you and your customers are below. This virtual event is also available on-demand.
In addition, Red Hat Enterprise Linux V7.1 is Red Hat’s first update to the next generation flagship platform. There are several key features in this release including new container orchestration tooling with Kubernates, new Docker updates and new variants including Red Hat Enterprise Linux for Real Time and Red Hat Enterprise Linux for IBM POWER (little endian). Complete details are available on redhat.com and the Red Hat Customer Portal (access.redhat.com).
