Hello 2015

Well that’s it for 2014. Hard to believe isn’t it? As we all look towards the promise of 2015, we wanted to take a look back at what was a great year for Shadow-Soft.

-Over 2014, we doubled headcount, added additional space and a world-class training room to our HQ in Atlanta. We also started renovations and expansion at our offices in Reston, VA.

-More importantly we added some key folks to our rockstar engineering team – Jerald Sheets, John Ray, Derrick Sutherland, and our new VP of Technical Solutions – Tony Stafford.

-To begin the year, Shadow-Soft won the 2014 Red Hat Commercial & Public Sector Partner of the Year Awards at the Red Hat North American Partner Conference in January. We’re a small fish in a very big pond, so for a team of 30 people we were psyched to receive the recognition:

-At the conference, we also launched our AWS Test Drive Labs around Red Hat’s JBoss Business Rules Management System (BRMS) + JBoss Operations Network (JON). Check it out:

-Next up was our annual Quota Club trip where we recognize our top sales achievements. This year we celebrated in the Riviera Maya – Cancun, Mexico. We rocked it out, caught a bunch of small fish, and just about wore out our welcome at our hotel with the celebration that ensued. Congrats to Brad Kovacik who won the inaugural “Ricky Roma” award for Top Sales for 2014:

-In Spring, we released our Ozone Widget Framework (OWF) cartridges on Openshift.com and Openshift Enterprise. To learn more, visit https://github.com/Shadow-Soft

-2014 was the year of Docker and in June, Shadow-Soft was chosen as foundation Docker partner. We were also a sponsor of the inaugural DockerCon 2014 in San Francisco. We’re extremely excited about the partnership and the game changing technology . Here’s a shot from the show:

– This Summer the Atlanta office accepted the ALS Challenge from Leisha Chinn and then challenged the DC office and our partners Zimbra and Puppet labs to do the same. The ALS cause and find for a cure is something near to us at Shadow-Soft. A close friend of one of our founders, John David Keith, passed away from the disease a few years ago. Please donate to an ALS cause today!

-To the cloud. Shadow-Soft delivered 10+ Cloud and Integration Workshops to our enterprise and public sector customers around IaaS (Openstack), PaaS (Openshift), DevOps, & Automation (Puppet Labs).

-Shadow-Soft is all about the Open Source community and we hosted some great talks (and epic ping pong matches) at the Atlanta JBoss User Group:

-And we also helped establish the newly formed Charleston Red Hat Users Group in our favorite city Charleston, SC.

-Shadow-Soft had a busy year on the event front too. It was awesome to see friends, partners and customers at industry events we sponsored like Red Hat Summit which was held in San Francisco for a change this year. So our theme for the show followed suit:

-During Summit, we hosted a memorable customer VIP dinner at Stone’s Throw in San Francisco. Look out for another customer appreciation dinner at this year’s Red Hat Summit in Boston, MA:

-Then we hit C4ISR in San Diego and after that we sponsored PuppetConf 2014 for the 4th consecutive year which was once again one of the top DevOps events in 2014:

-Open Silicon Harbor in Charleston in mid-September:

-Followed by the inaugural AppSphere 2014 in Las Vegas. AppDynamics was a new partnership for us in 2014 which we believe is a game changer for application performance management. Check out our blog on the AppDynamics technology.

-Then we had LISA14 in Seattle and AWS re:Invent in Las Vegas where we showcased our JBoss BRMS Test Drive again and the Shadow-Soft Lamborghini 🙂

-We closed things out in late November with our 4th annual C5ISR Networking Reception at the Cocktail Club in Charleston:

2014 was a great year and we could not have done it without the awesome team we have at Shadow-Soft. More importantly, we want to take this time to thank our partners and customers for their continued partnership and business.

As we move into the New Year, Shadow-Soft will continue our mission in helping commercial and public sector customers solve complex business problems through innovative Open Source solutions and expert integration services. It’s 2015. Own It.
